Mexican Drug Law

Two spoonfuls of h-bomb washed down with a marijuana chaser. A sun-burned doormat of partly deceased college dropouts pay homage to the aesthetic pleasantness amidst the golden beaches of Acapulco and Cancun. A mess of tequila shots substituted for skanky syringes where the rims have been replaced with pockets of white rocks and rolled up twenties. A complicated spring break off the popular shores of Mexico has transformed into an orgy of chaos induced conversation, oblivious malnutrition and excusable impotence. This is the outlook of spring break 2007.

This last week Mexico, with the agreement of presidentVicente Fox, passed a controversial bill allowing and legalizing the possession of no more than 25 milligrams of heroin, a fifth ounce of marijuana, a half gram of cocaine, or two pounds of peyote buttons. The goal of the new bill; to focus federal investigation and jail time towards the dealers rather than the addicts.

Skeptics have already jumped to the conclusion that Mexico is no more than Amsterdam’s dirty little brother where the weed, coke and heroin are as brown as the vast terrain. This debacle of criticism couldn’t have come at a more interesting time due to the growing animosity between Mexican immigrants and United States government officials. As the Mexican community continues to migrate towards the United States for jobs and the pursuit of a better life, citizens of the United States are expected to make a surge of movement during the weeks of spring break in the pursuit of a better high.

At this point it is entirely unknown to how long this particular bill will last. They are however certain that this years spring break festivities will be nothing short of the most disgruntled heroin cookout the horizon has ever seen flourishing the poorly paved streets of Cancun with strung out college dropouts sticking Mr. Washington in their melons and making hemp necklaces out of broccoli stems . CTC magazine and its crew will be there covering the entire event....don’t miss it!
